Dr Oz: Constipation Cures & Remedies
Do You suffer with painful bloating and cramping all the time? Do you sit on the toilet and push like mad to have a bowel movement? Do you have bowel movements less than 3 times per week? If so, you’re not alone. One woman described her constipation as feeling like the “doors were locked and nothing can get out” Another woman said that it felt like she was trying to push a brick out of her body. On the Doctor Oz show, we saw a demonstration why constipation happens and what you can do to alleviate the problem.
Denise, an audience member, told Dr Oz that it felt like she had a brick in her stomach. She said she had been constipated since she was a little girl and felt as though there was no remedy to her painful situation.
What Makes You Constipated?
Doctor Oz says that during a course of a year, a person can release up to 160 lbs of “poop” per year, but the average person releases 68 lbs of “poop” per year. When you’re always constipated, you only release about 18 lbs of “poop” over the course of a year. That’s Not Good! So where does all that toxic waste go if it’s not released out of your body?
Normally, the small bowel pushes fluidly stool through the intestines. If that process takes too long to go through, too much water is sucked up and you end up with the small, hard pieces of “poop” coming out. Eventually this will end up being a bigger problem for you down the road and lead to other medical issues.
Dr Oz: Constipation Checklist
- Are you having fewer than 3 bowel movements per week? (Denise said she only went once a week, on a good week and I know she’s not the only one that only goes once a week)
- Are your stools hard and painful?
- Do you spend more time pushing than pooping?

Dr Oz: The Worry Cure
If you spend nights lying awake stressing about bills, family, your job, and more… you’re not alone. Forty million adults are more anxious than ever, or so we believe. Doctor Oz put together a list of some great tips, like Stress Breathing to help minimize the toll stress takes on your health. Dr Oz wanted to know what worries you, so today, he hit the streets to find out what you stress over. It’s really no surprise because of our struggling economy to hear some of the answers like:

Candy, an audience member, told Dr Oz that on a scale of 1-10, she’s an 8 when it came to worrying. She’s stressed by her 2 young daughters, plus, she works full-time. She also worries about being the perfect mom and wife. Dr Oz had Candy put on the purple gloves to show her the amygdala part of the brain. (The literal translation is “the almond”). The amygdala is needed to regulate fear in our lives and sends the message to the awareness part of the brain. When we become too worried, we need to take a step back and relax to give ourselves a worry window, which is basically a timeout to figure out if the issue is really worth worrying about.

- sets up the organization and structure to control and decrease anxiety
To slow your breathing down, use a balloon. Take a deep breath and fill the balloon. Blow slowly into the balloon as you inflate it as far as it can go. This forces you to slow down your heart rate and blood pressure, which helps relax you.
Dr Oz: Worry Cure Stomach Remedies
Internist, Holly Phillips, joined Dr Oz to show you how worrying effects your stomach. Dr Oz and Holly put on the purple gloves and looked at the intestinal system. According to Dr. Phillips, the gut functions as a second brain. Stress causes the upper intestine to slow down the digestion process, which can cause stomach issues. Stress also causes the lower intestine to slow down, which causes diarrhea.
Dr Oz: Lemon Balm Worry Cure
Dr Oz has spoken about the positive impact of Lemon Balm on your mood in the past. He suggested taking 400 mg of Lemon Balm, twice every day as the correct dosage.

Are Ramen Noodles Really Healthy?
Well… Yes and No! The noodles are fine and great for making delicious and healthy soups, however, the seasoning pack is not healthy for you. It’s full of MSG and Sodium and you should just toss that in the garbage. Le see what Dr Oz is cooking up for us today wit Ramen Noodles.
Yesterday we wrote an article about the Dr Oz Low-Calorie Flavor Boosters like Miso Paste and Sun-Dried Tomato Paste and today we learn how to cook with Low Calorie Flavor Boosters like Miso. Celebrity Chef, Marcus Samuelsson, joined Doctor Oz to prepare a delicious meal to help you burn calories and get healthy. Audience members watched as chef turned a pack of high sodium Ramen noodles into a fat-busting meal loaded with healthy proteins and spices that will supercharge your metabolism. The best part is… You can prepare this meal for under $10.
Dr Oz: Salmon Ramen Noodle Recipe
Ingredients:
- 8 oz (two 4 oz pieces) of Fresh Alaska Salmon
- 1 package Ramen Noodles (toss the seasoning packet in the garbage… it’s full of MSG and Sodium and the worst part of Ramen Noodles)
- 1 qt Water
- 1 sliced Garlic Clove
- 1 chopped Red Onion
- 2 chopped Scallions
- 1/2 Tbsp of Curry Powder (you can also use Masala or a Masala mix)
- 1/2 tsp of Miso
- 1 tsp of Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp of Fish Sauce
- 4 Basil Leaves
- 4 Cherry Tomatoes (cut into quarters)
- 2 pieces of chopped Asparagus
- Juice from 1 Lime
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions:
- Season the salmon with curry powder (or masala.) Give a generous coating.
- Heat olive oil in sauté pan and sauté the salmon.
- Add red onion
- Add scallion
- Add garlic
- Sear the salmon for 4 minutes (2 minutes each side).
- Bring water to a boil
- Add asparagus
- Add cherry tomatoes
- Add fish sauce
- Add soy sauce, miso, lime juice and basil. (this adds more flavor to the dish)
- Add in the Ramen Noodles and let the mixture simmer for 3 minutes
- Use two bowls
- Lift salmon the out of the sauté pan to put a piece in each bowl.
- Pour liquid mixture into the sauté pan and let simmer for 2 minutes
- Pour over salmon
- Place cooked Ramen Noodles on top and serve.
Note: the bigger veggies go in first because they take longer to cook, lighter things, like tomatoes, add in later. Curry and miso adds natural salt and flavors. This dish contains less than 475 calories and has lots of flavors with the broth.

Doctor Oz noted that he’s not a big fan of the Pulque because of the alcohol. Dr. Loguidice agreed but said it was an option for some people. Dr. Loguidice said she preferred the oatmeal because it gave the best bang for your buck and completely relaxed the nervous system before bed… and that sounds like good advise to me.

Dr Oz: Butt Acne Remedy
Lynn, from Buffalo, NY (hey, I’m from Buffalo, NY too, but I don’t know Lynn) told Dr Oz that she had irritating acne on her butt and the back of her legs. The acne was sore and painful and she wanted to know what to do about it. Dr Oz actually showed an image of her backside, which looked painful and probably pretty embarrASSing to Lynn as well for “mooning” millions of viewers around the world.
What Happens: Acne is caused by inflammation in the body. Normally, the skin is flat, but when you get inflammation, the skin around that area becomes larger and puffs up and then, pimples begin to form and sometimes some fluid begins to ooze from the pimples too. Most people see this happen on the face area, but it can happen anywhere on your body, including your butt cheeks.

Choose Energy Star Laundry Appliances
While it doesn’t make a lot of sense for you to run out and replace your old energy-sucking washer and dryer pair with a sleek, energy-saving duo, it is a smart move when the time comes. When replacing laundry appliances, look for those that have the Energy Star logo when you’re buying new ones. Energy Star washing machines consume only about 25 gallons of water per load, as compared with an average of 40 gallons for standard top-loading machines. Energy Star dryers also take much less energy than their non-energy saving counterparts.
Choose a Front-Loading Washer
Go even greener by choosing a front-loading washing machine. The front-loading washer operates on a horizontal axis, and this can save both energy and water. The front-loader needs less water to do the same job as a top-loader because the tub rotates, tumbling the clothing inside into the water, as opposed to top-loading machines that must be filled in order to do their job. - lay flat on your back
- pull butt straight up (exhale as you go up)
